Why We Practise Ayurveda In Our Clinic
At the Holistic Massage Centre, we use Ayurvedic practices throughout our treatments. It’s a philosophy we believe deeply in and honour it through everything we do. But many people are unsure of the meaning of Ayurveda and why it’s so important to us.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda means ‘Knowledge of Life’, and the premise of it is that an imbalance of the four elements of our body – air, earth, fire, water – will affect the health of the body. Through diet, herbs (both internally and externally), and gentle exercise, we can restore that balance and find perfect harmony within ourselves.
Ayurveda is a natural system of medicine that originated in India over 3000 years ago and believes that to heal the body you must find a way to balance it. It is imbalance and stress that causes so many diseases and all practices in Ayurveda aim to restore the body back to harmony.
Where is Ayurveda used?
There are a range of Ayurvedic techniques available. Some of these include:
- Acupuncture
- Massage
- Meditation
- Breathing exercises
- Dietary changes
- Sound therapy
- Art therapy
- Yoga
Many Ayurveda practitioners use these techniques to treat a range of disorders. Some of these include anxiety, eczema, high blood pressure, asthma, arthritis, stress, and many more.
What is an Ayurvedic facial?
You can’t go wrong with an Ayurvedic facial. These facials use only 100% natural products that are all chemical-free and not tested on animals. At the Holistic Therapies Centre, we use OmVeda products which all adhere to the Ayurvedic principles. The range is organic, environmentally friendly, chemical and preservative free, and not tested on animals.
- Improved circulation: Facials incorporate massage techniques that enhance blood flow beneath the skin’s surface, aiding in the removal of toxins. This reduction in puffiness and fluid buildup can minimise wrinkles, soften the skin, and strengthen facial muscles, contributing to a slower ageing process.
- Deep cleansing: Facials go beyond daily face washing by effectively removing the accumulated oil and dirt from our day-to-day activities.
- Relaxation: The face holds a significant amount of tension, and a routine facial not only relaxes the facial muscles but also offers a calming effect on the mind. It provides you with the opportunity to focus on your breathing and release any stored tension.
